Obama’s Science Budget Increased; will Congress do the Smart Thing?

Obama’s Budget Seeks Big Boost for Science

I hope this isn’t a waste of time. I hope that Congress sees the value of investing in science and technology.

Unfortunately many of the Republican Congressmen receive large contributions from companies that don’t want investment in climate change, energy conservation, alternative energy sources etc.. I’m not saying that only Republicans are guilty of this, the Democrats get their funding from companies on the other side of the issues.

Regardless of how easily our representatives are ‘influenced’ by their campaign contributors I hope this budget is passed and we can start investing in the future. What good is our investing in STEM Education (Science, technology, engineering, mathematics) if we don’t have any programs for the future graduates to work at.

I’m not optimistic. There won’t be a budget or reduction in the stupid sequestration until each side gets their shot at the other side. Remember their priorities are in this order: 1) Find fault with what the other party is saying, 2) Find a way to trumpet what their party is saying, 3) Find a way to satisfy their political contributors, 4) Find a way to get re-elected, 5) Listen to their constituents.

Please let your congressional representatives know that they need to fund the science portion of the president’s budget.
