Synopsis of “Progeny’s Children”

The humans returned to Earth, and something else was there

The residents of Earth were progressing well and following their Four Laws of Conformity. Joan, who was one of their scientists, followed the Third and Fourth Laws to ‘Expand the Knowledge Base’ and to ‘Seek Variation in Thought.’ In their archives, she discovered information about how biological creatures lived and how their DNA described them. She used genetic engineering and discovered clues to her origins. The biologic’s DNA contained hints of who made them. She used information from the genetically modified creature to give birth to another creature. Another creature, similar to those who created them.

Humanity treated Earth badly. They neglected the needs of their home planet, which resulted in a world that was hostile to life. Earth’s population was decreasing rapidly. The debate finally ended. The only way for the species to survive was to dedicate all the planet’s remaining resources and build huge spaceships. The deteriorating conditions forced them to leave and find another planet. Humanity traveled 325 years and covered 189 Light Years to a planet they named Horizon.

They had learned from their mistakes and took care of their new planet. But that wasn’t enough. They longed to return home. They taught their children of Earth’s beauty, and they compared everything on to their memories of Earth. Ultimately, there was no comparison, and they wanted to return home.

Over 1,600 years after leaving Earth, they developed Faster Than Light Travel and were able to go home. The first ship entered Earth’s orbit and found a pristine planet welcoming them home, but they also found something else living there. Their first alien contact surprised them.
