Earth “With no humans”

I found this article to be interesting from a Science-Fiction-Author perspective. After all, Sci-Fi Authors have the power to create any world we can envision. I love this facet of writing and articles like this motivates me to write stories that have a larger diversity of life.

I have a book in development which is a follow on to my series Gemini. In that story I’ll be sending some aliens from one world to another world of intelligent insects. They’ll spend time there working with them and helping them through a revolution before the story takes a different and more exciting direction. I’m looking forward to writing about how an intelligent insect world will work. What will the social structure be, how will they eat. What will the pyramid of creatures look like and how will they interact. Will they live in multi-story buildings, will they have subways, what will their social and religious structures look like.

After reading this article I’m going to spend more time filling out the world they live in. Even now I spend a lot of my ‘wondering time’ thinking about that world and how the pieces fit together. I’m anxious to get to that project, and I hope you enjoy it when it’s published.

I’m a retired Aeronautical Engineer who is trying to bring a different style to science fiction writing. I’ve always loved science fiction and I’m trying to write with deeper characters and create stories and situations that a reader can relate to. The be honest I love a hero that has amazing weapons, takes on hundreds of aliens and can survive anything, but I also want to read a situation and be able to relate to it. I’ve been fortunate and I flew in the US Air Force for 10 years, during which time I flew C-130’s and visited 27 countries, then I flew T-38”s and trained the best pilots in the world, as well as the first female US Air Force pilots. I then was fortunate to spend 28 years in a major aerospace firm and worked on some of the best programs in the world including the F-23, F-35, B-2, Global Hawk and many I can’t tell you about…. I hope I can bring my real life experiences into my writing so you can appreciate my work.
