Once again, our days are numbered.

New hypothesis suggests dark matter wiped out the dinosaurs

Here is another doomsday scenario to cause us to worry. This article brings up an interesting point about what causes mass extinctions on Earth. When the Earth passes through the Milky Way’s plane, we pass through a tremendous amount of dark matter. Passing through that matter causes a number of events to occur. One being an increase in the number of meteor strikes and the other is even more interesting. The dark matter penetrates the Earth and interacts with the Earth’s core. The dark matter heats the Earth’s center and it causes an increase in volcanic action.

I love these kinds of scenarios because I’m always looking for events that can change an invasion or allow a significant underdog to win over a greater invasion force. I like to use natural phenomena, which surprises the invaders. In one of my future stories, I have a solar flare wiping out an invading alien force.

In my SIMPOC series, which will start releasing by the end of March I’m using a viral pandemic to wipe out the human race and allow two computers to take over. One is friendly and the other isn’t. The story is about how an alien computer gets its start.

I did a little research and it appears that we’re safe for the time being, we aren’t scheduled to pass through the Milky Way’s plane for another 30 million years or so. I guess it’s never too late to start worrying

About Ray Jay P

I’m a retired Aeronautical Engineer who is trying to bring a different style to science fiction writing. I’ve always loved science fiction and I’m trying to write with deeper characters and create stories and situations that a reader can relate to. The be honest I love a hero that has amazing weapons, takes on hundreds of aliens and can survive anything, but I also want to read a situation and be able to relate to it. An extrapolation of what might really happen with a little less stretch in my imagination. I’ve been fortunate and I flew in the US Air Force for 10 years, during which time I flew C-130’s and visited 27 countries, then I flew T-38”s and trained the best pilots in the world, as well as the first female US Air Force pilots. I then was fortunate to spend 28 years in a major aerospace firm and worked on some of the best programs in the world including the F-23, F-35, B-2, Global Hawk and many I can’t tell you about…. I hope I can bring my real life experiences into my writing so you can appreciate my work.
